Commencal reveals new Supreme V4.2 downhill bike

Max has had a tinker with his flagship bike

Commencal has revealed an updated version of the Supreme V4 downhill bike that’s set to be released in February.

Remi Thirion, George Brannigan and Myriam Nicole all had strong seasons on this bike, and Gaetan Vige even picked up some wins in the juniors, so this is undoubtedly a fast bike. The Supreme V4.2 is more of a slight revision than a total overhaul but there’s some interesting details that are worth a bit more of a look into.

First, as you would expect, there’s been a geometry change. The Supreme V4 had the shortest the reach, wheelbase and front centre figures are the shortest by a country mile on production downhill bikes. Although we didn’t think this was too much of a hinderance in our review, it could definitely be improved.

So it’s grown, by up to 23mm. But it’s still not huge. The large has a reach of 430mm (up from 407mm last year) but this is still shorter than Canyon Sender by 30mm and a YT Tues by 20mm.

Also new is an improved, one piece rocker link. Unfortunately Commencal hasn’t gone too in depth with the benefits but instead has given us a series of bullet points. They are:

“Stiff
Accesible
Simple and clean
Light
Progressive
Resistant”

So pretty much everything you could want if they can deliver on those promises.

Also new is the anchor contact system. You can see an aluminium bar has been removed making the frame look much cleaner. Again, all we’ve got are some bullet points, they are:

“A single form
Resistant
Light”

There will be four builds available with both RockShox and Fox suspension. No doubt they will benefit from Commencal’s usual amazing direct sale value, but we’ll let you know definite prices when we get them.
