Honestly, some riders want the bloody lot, and they want it at a good price. And why shouldn’t they, but the current environment offers us some bikes at insanity prices for often not such rational performance. This YT Industries Noton is produced by a wild, yet wise, bunch of guys over in Germany and after a quick visit to their headquarters we had an enduro style Noton sent over on rapid dispatch. I’ll tell you why.
CHASSISAt 170mm travel front and rear the Noton sits above its all–mountain stablemate, the Wicked (150mm), and is aimed at the Freeride and Superenduro side of the market. I’d certainly have no hesitation taking this bike to such events with its honourable angles that hint at excellent stability even before you take off. YT describe their suspension design as a ‘Virtual Four Link’, the actuality is that it pivots close to the chain line, chain/seat stay and via a rocker link connected to the top tube. I removed the shock and found a smooth operating, solid rear end. The detail is excellent, including good cable routing, Maxle, replaceable hanger and a super low standover on the large we were sent. >>
