Jake from the Forest of Dean popped in to the office the other day with two great cakes and news of tree felling at the FOD.

This is what he told us:

First up the FODCA (short xc loop) will be closed from Feb 1st until March 1st.

Secondly the certain downhill trails have a ‘window’ in which the tree felling must take place, but the forestry commission don’t know when in the ‘window’ that it will happen. The window opens in March, and closes again in November. The felling could happen anywhere in that window, with the forestry only having very short notice.

It’s a bit vague I know, so the best thing is to either phone the Pedalabikeaway Centre (which is at the bottom of the trails) 01594 860065 or check the forums before you set off.
