NZ Week Of Wonder: Revolver Expression Session

There’s been a lot of New Zealand news recently (NZ tourist board take note, I wouldn’t mind a freebie return ticket sometime) probably because it’s nice and sunny and there is loads of action.

If you have been paying attention you’ll know that Dirt columist and mtb fanatic organised a week of things to do on a mountain bike called “Week of Wonder” (search the site to find all the events, or I might do a round up tomorrow of the entire thing.)

Here a few words from Seb plus the lowdown on the hoe down that was the Revolver Expression Session part of the Week of Wonder.

“Well just tidying up the loose ends after one of the funnest and hectic weeks of riding and socialising.
The Week of Wonder was a massive success and already there’s plans to make it bigger and better next year…well sorta bigger but definetely better.

The idea of the Week of Wonder all started about from a bolt of lightning over a few beers and then the next day I had posters printed and distributed before I had even sobered up.
It seems the riders who attended it and the local community and businesses really loved the concept and everyone had a blast. The idea of events where riders take ownership and have an personal stake involved really works. Its like an antidote to many events and races which are so heavily regulated, controlled, pricey and forget the principle of FUN!

I would like thank everyone who attended any of the events and everyone who helped or even just gave an encouraging word of gratitude or those who bought me a pint of inspiration.”

Here’s the lowdown on the Revolver Expression Session which took place on wednesday 11th at Gorge Road Trails in Queenstown. Enjoy!

yeah thats right, you are looking at THE BEST public dirt jumps in the World bar none!!! TJ Lavin says so, so you better respect!

Base jumpers and again, yeah thats right, thats a base jumper landing in the jumps at the opening of the jam.
Queenstown IS THE EXTREME CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. two base jumpers and two paraponters chartered a chopper landed on the mountain above then paraponted above the jumps then the two base jumpers jumped out of the paraponters laps and landed in the trails.
Its like the opening ceremony for the Super Bowl but with more action.

rock!!! once again, yeah thats right, thats a Brazilian heavy metal band playing at the trail jam.
Two bands rocked out all arvo and evening while riders shredded the jumps and the hordes of drunken spectators through the slayers and banged their heads.
RAD ROCK!!!

Wyn Master is one of the most talented riders. Here is riding in flip flops, or as kiwis call them, jandles.
Later in the week Wyn destroyed all comers at the manual competition. He only stopped manualing because the uphill forced him to…

Luke McCrombie and Fitch.
Owner of one the dirtiest moustashes ever to grace a mans face. Here he gives us a better view from above and upside down.

Karl Bensemen is totally under the radar. He is a total dragon slayer of a rider. Whilst most riders are trying to click niblike tricks he is silently doing insanely dipped one foot step thru 360s.
Here is a rather sedate regular and only slightly dipped 3.
