Soldier, downhill racer and former unofficial Hardtail National Champ Ben Deakin sent in a photo of himself reading Dirt issue #104 up a large snowy mountain.
” I thought I would enclose a picture of me reading Dirt Magazine on no other than MOUNT EVEREST!!!
Bit of a background, we basically went up to Mount Everest BC and summited Kallapattar which stands at over 18,500ft tall. We were there to raise money for the Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund and also raise awareness for injured lads returning from Afghanistan, me included, as I was shot in the ankle in 2007. So out of the team of eighteen, twelve of us were injured with various issues, a few members had been blown up from IEDs, Gunshot wounds and one lad had a brain tumour.”
