Rachel Atherton completed her perfect season, and her 15th consecutive win, at the World Champs in Val di Sole this weekend and you can check out all the behind the scenes action in the video above.
Rach said: “I kind of feel a bit sad that it’s over. All I wanted was for it to be over and it was such a wild run I was like, ‘it doesn’t matter, just got to keep going, if I make a mistake, just keep going.’ I couldn’t believe it.
“It was mental, Ragot won two in a row and that’s the only thing I’ve wanted to do for so long. Sometimes losing in the last race is good because you’re hungry in the winter and you want to train but I just wanted to win because who knows what’s going to happen in future, I probably will never be this good, this is my time, this is my moment, next year it’s going to be some else’s for sure.”
Unfortunately Gee was unable to compete due to a shoulder injury and Taylor Vernon failed to make selection for the Team GB squad. It’s interesting that the video focusses on Charlie Harrison too. The young American is part of the Trek test team but was hanging out in the Atherton pits for most of the weekend. Was it an arrangement of convenience ora hint at something to come for next year?
