Fourteen years after it FIRST HOSTED THE WORLD CUP, The wizened grandfather of British downhill returns tomorrow for yet another season of broken rims, battered bodies and flat out action.
This year extra special focus will be on Fort William as it will be hosting Steve Peat‘s last ever British World Cup. Steve Peat has only won at the Bill once – in 2005 – but the venue will no doubt want to see him off in style 11 years later.
As usual the gondola will offer access to infamously challenging World Cup track and the Giant Red that provides flowing woodwork from the top of the Gondola. Fort Bill is also home to a number of XC tracks that don’t require the use of the gondola.
Specialized will be on hand tomorrow to help kick things off with its demo fleet of bikes including Ohlins equipped Demos for you to rip down the track. There will also be free uplifts on offer on a first-come-first-served basis. On Sunday, Specialized’s Hannah Barnes will be leading a group ride starting at 10am.
The opening also coincides with the Scottish Six Day trial event that will be rolling by the Nevis Range car park on Saturday.
