Fort William World Cup 2016: weather report

Hotter than hell's waiting room

Well, well, well, there’s not many who would have predicted this. It’s hotter than the batter on a deep fried Mars bar here in Fort William and the balmy spell is set to continue through the weekend.

The weather gods are smiling on the Scottish Highlands and it looks like we’re going to have a dry track all weekend. The British Downhill Series race here on May 15 was a dusty scorcher and we’ve had nothing but wall-to-wall sunshine since.

The riders are searching for shade on the trackwalk today and will no doubt be kicking up plumes of dust on the hill tomorrow. There’s a bit of snow trying to cling on to the tops of the hills but it won’t be hanging around much longer, it feels like the Bahamas out there!

If you’re coming up this weekend bring your BBQ and enjoy these quick photos we’ve taken up on Aonach Mor today:
