There must be something magic in the Surrey Hills. With no real altitude or gradient they’ve managed to produce a swathe of pro UK riders – Brendan Fairclough, Bernard Kerr, Sam Reynolds, the Jones brothers and Olly Wilkins.

Maybe part of the reason for its prodigial riders is simply the amount of variety on offer. In 10 minutes you can ride downhill, hit dirt jumps and spin along trails, there’s simply so much jam-packed into a small space.
