A sign of the times?

Trek Factory racing rider Katy Winton changed it up a bit for this weekend and took the win in a DH race

Normally when 29ers win downhill races it’s on courses that are a bit lame. The same can’t said of Innerleithen however as it’s a mainstay of SDA and BDS series, with parts of this particular track also used in the IXS cup in years gone by. It should be said there’s a pretty hefty traverse in the middle of it though. Check out a preview from Ben Cathro here:

On an unusually dusty day, Buchanan flew down the track in 2:50.47 with World Cup racers Reece Wilson and Fraser McGlone nipping at his heels. Peebles local Katy Winton dominated the women’s field, taking the win by ten seconds.

If you dig down into the results though, you can see that they both lost time on the second, steeper half of the track, and neither was fastest through the speed trap – let’s not ring the death knell of the downhill bike just yet!

Henry Kerr grabbed himself a win too with his brother slotting in second, nice work lads!
