Fort William Team Video & Race Report: SC-Intense

After a two week break TEAM SC-INTENSE headed up to Fort William for the 3rd round of the UCI MTB World Cup. Best organization, a super demanding track and a race where our riders were looking to come in strong. On the other hand, difficult weather and a Midge plague was upon us for the full 4 days. Gavin, Lars and Desi had everything under control and the boys were ready to dice it up with the best on the planet

Training went well on Friday except for a few flats and the 3 boys were really looking forward to quali the next day. Formula brakes laid out the red carpet for our riders and set them up with the newest break adjustment systems; they were stoked.

Fridays manager meeting advised all the teams that the weather for Saturday was going to be difficult due to high winds. This ment that the riders had to be up really early and on the track by 07:00. All riders had to be on the top of the mountain by 10:30 as the lift was to close due to the coming storm. This threw everyone pretty much off and added quite a bit of stress due to the long wait at the top in the cold.

Joel, Joe and Jack were now ready to roll and the qualification began. Juniors off first so Joel had to set his goals on getting in under the top 30. He missed this mark by only a few seconds due to a slight encounter with a tree trunk in the woods, 34th. Close but just a nudge off :).
Joe and Jack had their turn and put in solid runs with a few slight hits and misses but got in with a 69th and 43rd. Tomorrow was set to be “pin it” time.

Sunday was looking good as to the weather but as soon as Joe took off the rain hit.
After Joe, Jack took off with blue sky’s but a bit of a different track condition as he was used to.
Both riders put in hearted performances finishing 38th (Joe) and 70th (Jack) after a close encounter with the Ft. William forest soil and trees.

All in all a positive weekend with no injuries and some good solid racing!
Next weekend it’s off to Leogang in Austria where the boys will be pushing for even better results.

A special thanks goes out to our sponsors for their fantastic support and an extra mention to the Family at Alpinestars for the super custom jerseys for Jack aka “BATMANN”.

See you all in Leogang, but before that enjoy our video from Fort William…
