World Cup 6-a-day photos

5-a-day is now 6-a-day and comes not from one but three of the worlds best mountainbike photographers. Gary “Flipper” Perkin, Sven Martin and Victor Lucas will be bringing you the very best action photographs from World Cup round 1 at Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
Today was DH and 4x qualifying

Mick Hannah came back from a year off today … a year of landscape
gardening and potato harvesting sure paid off the man from Cairns.

Santa Cruz Syndicate have been experimenting with ‘the future’ as Jon
Cancelier from SRAM calls it .. a custom long stroke piggy back air
shock to fit the new V-10s. Minnaar and Peaty both ran it today.

Busy busy day for the boy Graves. After qualifying 13th in the downhill the lad from Toowoomba then went on to qualify first in the 4x. Not a bad afternoons work at all.
Photo Victor Lucas.

Sam Hill. Completely focused on the job in hand. But his 3:58.08 was only good enough for eigth place in qualifying today.

Shooting this blind corner on a track where there are sometime 30
minute breaks between riders requires a lot of patience. Lucky for me
Peaty was first guy around. After which I had another 30 minutes to
explain to the marshals what to do with their flags and whistles. Most
of whom had never ever been to a bike event before?!?

Andrew Neethling had the 4th quickest split on the top technical, he lost some time on the lower pedal section where he expected to do well. His legs are probably still feeling the effects of last weekend’s race where he finished 2nd to Kovarik.
Riders have a day to recover and make some changes to their lines and race strategy, almost like at worlds where you qualify early.

3 men in a pickup. Here are your 6-a-day snappers. On safari in Africa and hunting big game. Victor Lucas, Gary Perkin and Sven Martin in any order you like.
