Sabrina Jonnier showed her experience with a steady run, although she says it was a bad run at least she stayed upright. And it was just enough for her to stay ahead of Emmeline Ragot. 0.31sec has got to be the closest women’s margin in quite a while.
Fabien Barel surprised everyone today, including himself. Its only a couple of months since he went down with a horrific knee injury that would have had other riders out for the season. He said he didn’t really think he could do it today, but with a mix of absolute determination, guts, skill and a little luck – he put in the winning time. An extraordinary feat.
Steve Peat riding it out with a rear flat in his race run. The same bad luck as last year for Peaty put him down in 38th place, which puts him in 2nd spot overall behind Greg Minnaar.
