Spanish National Champs

Looks like it’s National Champ season at the moment, we’ve got the US nationals and the British Nationals (more on that shortly) coming up soon. Last weekend however saw the Spanish National Championships, this race might not have registered on the Dirt radar if it not for the results of the Misser brothers Tomi and Pau.

These guys are 30+ and have retired from racing nationals over 6 years ago, yet they were both in the top six!
I imagine it would be similar to someone, say, like Rob Warner getting a top five at the British National. Pretty special. Bernart Guardia Pascal won the event but the Old Skool put up a good fight.

Watch out for the Misser brothers at this years Masters Worlds in Pra Loup.

Here’s what they had to say:

Hola

The Misser Brothers (GUAK) returned to the Spanish nationals after 6 years, no one did know about it so in the training runs it was a continue of finding old friends, meeting new ones and answering: what are you doing here? how are you? and are you competing again? questions and listening to how everything is changed, how the pace is much higher now than it use to be, how this circuit was much more technical to what we use to race…
We were just there for fun, but after the qualifiing run things got interesting, Tomi set the fastest time of all af and Pau was in 4th, it got everyone, including us, by surprise.

Pau Misser

So things were heat up for the final and definitive run. Pau did a good run and set a time of 3.30, Tomi, in the other hand, broke the deraileur and could not pedal on the botton part of the technical course, still managed to do a 3.34. Those times were good to win Master30 by more than 15 seconds, but we were expecting the top guys to beat Pau’s time, but noone was able except for the last man coming, who finally did a run 1.7 faster than Pau. So we finally were 2nd and 6th overall.

Tomi Misser.

It was a really nice way to introduce ourselfs to the new generation of downihillers, to give the “oldschoolers” something to be proud of and basically an exciting day for all the fans and ourselfs.

Cheers

MISSER
