Tahnee Seagrave has won the women’s World Cup in Val di Sole and claimed second place in the overall series.
It was Tahnee’s third win of the year, making her the most successful woman of the season, however Nicole’s consistency was enough to claim the overall title on the day.
Eleonora Farina was the first to put down a significant time on her home course. She stayed into the hotseat into the top five until Myriam Nicole took to the course. Nicole knew if she crossed the line and saw green she would take the series overall. It was a smooth run after her crash in qualifying yesterday and four minutes later and it was mission accomplished, but would she hang on for the win?
Next up was Rachel Atherton on the course where she took her World Championship crown last year. She started strong with a gap of three seconds after the first split alone, the lead would be eroded as she carried on down the course and she ended up three seconds back on Nicole.
Tahnee Seagrave charged down the course and laid down a storming run nearly three seconds faster than Nicole. It was the first time that would beat Tracey Hannah’s time from qualifying yesterday and enough to stake a real claim for the win.
Tracey Hannah was last out of the gate and unable to mount a serious challenge to Seagrave. Seagrave despite looking the fittest of the women at the bottom. Seagrave may not have been able to challenge for the title this year but she’s capably shown she has the pace to claim the title in 2018.
