The 1/3 of the DirtTV eagle has landed in La Bresse for round two of the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup but it was a flight full of surprises.
I had arranged a lift to La Bresse in the van with Dirt Team rider Ralph Jones and co pilot Gaz Brewin.
The first surprise was when the dynamic duo turned up tooting the horn at the Dirt office doorstep at 7pm Tuesday evening.
I was expecting the tooting to happen on Wednesday evening at 7pm.
Bugger. That gave me exactly 30 minutes panic time to ram an assortment of unwashed clothes and tins of beans into a big bag for a two week trip to Europe;La Bresse and Andorra. (Toothbrush, battery charger and usb cables are the first things I’ve noticed missing)
The second nice surprise came shortly after we set off, when Ralphs Sat Nav threw a wobbly and refused to work.
(They weren’t wrong turns, we were just exploring the French countryside.)

A spot of breakfast after spending a sleepless night in the back of the van in a French service station.
Finally arrive at La Bresse, where not much is happening…yet.
