Day One Maribor World Cup pit photos

Day 1, or Thursday as it’s sometimes know in Maribor is a quiet day. It was hot and DH riders turned up mid afternoon to walk the track while 4x heros had to wait till early evening to practise their track.

While we’re waiting for the Parkins track walk, and the day 1 video stuff here’s a few random Maribor photos in no particular order.

This is Animal Commencal mechanic Stevie Bell’s favourite clock. I asked him what time it is when the big hand is on the nipple, he said bed time.

World Cup overall leader Steve Peat had some custom sun glasses made from Sheffields favourite Truck Rental place. He says driving in them is a bit shady.

It’s good to see that the conservationists are planting new trees on the Maribor track to provide new roots for World Cup riders in 20 years time.

I know this photo is out of focus, but talking of trees…if you’re going to crash into one of the 93 crash mats on the course at Maribor you might want to hit the only purple/pink mat on the track. Some say it has magical healing powers and is softer than the orange ones.

Thursday in Maribor was hot and since there wasn’t much to do but breathe, MS/Evil rider Filip Polc decided to head down to the local lake and lilo (lie-low?)

With Nathan Rennie back in Australia Fabien Cousinie has stepped in to take his place on the Kenda/Morewood team. Cous Cous hasn’t got any team stickers yet so he’ll have to make do with the marker pen for now.

Bernard Kerr is racing 4x and downhill at Maribor a week after being crowned European Junior Champion at the Kranjska Gora Bike Park.
Believe it or not Bernard is still a privateer, this lad needs a major sponsor.

Ancillotti riders Wyn Masters and Brook Macdonald spent the day practising their flat land skills in the pits, maybe they should have saved some energy for the 4x because they’ve both decided to give it a whirl here in Maribor.

Talking about Ancillotti, Brook Macdonald is testing the new light weight Tomaso dhp it’s the same geo as the previous model just with lighter frame tubes and Ti fittings oh and a New Zealand paint job too.

Day 1, or Thursday as it’s sometimes know in Maribor is a quiet day.
