Winter Digging Cardiff

Nathan Hughes from the Cardiff University MTB Team ( CUMTs for short) beamed over some great photos from some recent winter digging.

My friends and I have been busy chiselling out some trails in them valleys with an a-line vibe in mind. Of course, we’re not quite there yet, and may never be, but if we can capture any of that airtime rapture it will be a success.

I wouldn’t want to say too much about where the trail is for obvious reasons- but we call this the ‘Stingray Trail’ because inexplicably we found 2 dead rays (fish!) dumped in the forest here- a long way from the Ocean. Bit of a puzzler, but you see some crazy things going on up in the Welsh mountains as you may know!

We started with a set of three jumps, then came a berm and a quater-pipe style hip. Now we’ve got a load of bus stops off the fire road before them and a step up. Can’t wait to get the barbie out and the flow on in the summer, though hard to imagine as we chip through the permafrost with the snow falling around us..

As always…send your digging photos to BIlly
