If you’ve never heard of the Sprung series of mountain bike films then you’ve been well and truly missing out. These videos kicked off back in 1998 at a time when the idea of web edits hadn’t even been born. Any mountain biker worth their salt couldn’t wait for the next Sprung to be released as they were the only way that most of us ever got to see what was going on further afield. Whether it be local riding spots, incredible World Cup racing action, general Tom Foolery, or anything in between, the Sprung boys (Milan Spasic and Alex Rankin) captured it in their unique, and always brilliant style. If you ask any mountain bike film maker around at the moment the chances are that they will cite the Sprung videos as being their biggest influence, and their style is something that has often been imitated, but never bettered. Many people will argue that these films have never been bettered full stop, and to be honest I’m inclined to agree.
Anyway, the first two films have been available to watch online free for a while now, but now we’ve finally been treated to numbers 3 & 4. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer for the 5th and final film, but in the meantime enjoy the first four films in chronological order below…
