Thai National downhill champion passes away following crash

RIP Golden Boy

Tanaphon Jarupeng, better known as Por or Golden Boy, has passed away following a crash while riding on a local downhill track.

Golden Boy was the Thai National downhill champion (and had been for several years running) and 2011 Asian Champion.

Por, 27, was riding on the Suphanburi DH track just north of Bangkok on Sunday afternoon as part of a coaching session for ten riders. He was apparently leading the group when he crashed into a tree at speed. Jurapeng was taken to hospital but tragically passed away shortly after.

Alongside his racing, Por also owned a bike shop in his home town of Chainat and also had started a coaching program.

Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and everyone in the Thai riding community affected by this news.

RIP Golden Boy
