Stevie Smith has been marred by injury pretty much ever since winning the 2013 World Cup series. With repeated injuries to both ankles he has been mostly out of contention for over a year now. But he’s back (again) for this weekend’s Fort William World Cup and it’s great to see the Canadian once again in the mix.
Wyn Masters had a quick chat with Steve Smith in the pits.
If you don’t know, Smith first injured himself while training in New Zealand in winter 2013/14, then after taking a solid sixth place at his comeback in Fort William 2014 he was again injured at the next round (that’s both ankles then), putting him out for the rest of the season. THEN, he had more issues over winter, which put him out for the 2015 season opener in Lourdes, France.
A savage series of problems for Smith, but the modest ex-World Cup Champion seems as calm and upbeat as ever.
