The first race at the brand new race venue is all set for this weekend. There are a few spaces still left but you will have to get in quick (visit www.simplydownhill.co.uk). The weekend is promising to be one of the best this year.
The venue here is perfect as a DH venue and hopefully we will see some big events here in the future. Most of the time Nant Gwrtheyrn is where to go to learn the Welsh language. As the centre has accommodation for its students these are available as B&B or self catering accommodation during the weekend. As well as being able to stay at the venue in comfort there is also a bar, cafe and function room which will be open during the weekend and the Saturday night. There is also free camping available at the venue.
There are a lot of fast names making an appearance at this race including Santa Cruz Syndicate rider Josh Bryceland. It is good to see guys like this supporting the regional events. It is never a foregone conclusion however as this track is no walk in the park! There are plenty of other fast guys and world cup standard riders on the list! The track is classic North Wales terrain and has been described by Aaron Gwin after his recent visit, as like Andorra but steeper.
At this venue with the fast uplift we can go back to the old style of racing with each day being a race day. For all you end of season points chasers this means 2 opportunities to race and get some more BC points to your name! The cost of entry is £30 per day and you can do one or both of the days. There are not many races out there that are such a bargain for 2 timed runs with uplift. Don’t worry though we are not cutting any corners, we have Extreme Medics on hand to sort any injured riders, a luxurious uplift, MIJ events taking care of the timing & Stephan Hardcastle on the mic.
We have some great prizes to give away including some great spot prizes too. With loads of great sponsors involved including; Revolution Bikes, Continental, O’Neal, Howies, Leisure Lakes, Campbell Coaching, Fenwicks & Purple Moose Brewery. With these guys on board this relatively small race will have a pro feel around the pit area. There will be an opportunity to purchase some great kit, there will also be the usual price battles on items such as tyres etc. Bring some cash to pick up some bargains as the nearest ATM is a few miles away.
See you there!
