A little late to the party but we’ve got the Scott prototype photos!

I’m nicknaming it “Edward Scissor Hands” but I’ll get technical Ed@Dirt to give you his thoughts on this single pivot with linkage design.

For now though have a look and tell us what you think.

Billy’s asked me to write some super dooper all singing and dancing high-tech appraisal of this new Scott, but seeing as I’ve only seen the same pics as you guys you’re just going to get my first thoughts…

Straight off the bat I (like everyone else it seems) wondered what the hell Scott had done, it looked super complicated. When you look closer though you’ll see that it is in fact just a single pivot with a linkage driven shock. There are no more pivots than most other multilink designs (4-bar, VPP, and other single pivot with linkage designs etc), and I’ve seen several bikes with more. Maybe it’s the size of the linkage system that makes it seem so complicated?

It’s definitely a pretty unique design though, and that in itself is refreshing to see. And I don’t know why, but I’ve just got a feeling that it might work pretty well. Maybe it’s because some of the best DH bikes I have ever ridden are single pivots with a rocker driven shock?

Think Morewood. It all depends really on what that linkage does in terms of progression etc, and the only way we’ll properly find out the answer to that is to ride one…

So until then we’ll all have to keep playing the guessing game…which is something we haven’t been too good at considering we were all sure that this bike was going to be made from carbon. Knowing Scott’s extensive use of carbon on their other bikes though we wouldn’t be surprised if a carbon version appears before the end of the season…
