This weekend saw the first round of the UK Gravity Enduro Series take place at Ae Forest, and when you look at the results there’s definitely some truth in the saying “enduro is a retired DH racers game”.
In the elite category Ben Cathro managed to take the win over last year’s series winner Al Stock, and after building up a 7.32 second lead over the six stages it was pretty commanding win. Neil Donoghue rounded out the top three. Helen Gaskell took the win in the Elite Women’s race, and then yet more ‘retired’ DH racers in the shape of Tim Ponting and Andrew Titley took wins in the Veteran and Masters categories respectively. At the opposite end of the age spectrum a special mention should go to Junior Leigh Johnson who put in a blinder of time that beat all the senior men, and would have put him in 18th in the elite category. He was a whopping 49.31 seconds ahead of his nearest rival! Definitely a name to keep an eye on…
If you haven’t already seen them then here is the video highlights edit from the weekend’s racing, and here is Aidan Bishops full race report and helmet cam footage, but in the meantime here are the full results…
