Combine the words Redhill and Festival and what do you get? Redfest: possibly the most fun you’ll have had on two wheels.

Redfest is a low-key fund-raising weekend of riding, racing, fun and good times on the bikes we love, with the friends we know (and a chance to make new ones too). There will be several events aimed at giving everyone a chance to experience racing, but without the pressure of a national event. Everyone’s invited, girls and boys, young and old, friends and family and even pets. All you need to get involved is to be over 12 years old, have a full face helmet, a bike with bar plugs and at least one working brake, and most importantly, a sense of fun!

Timed pump track race

Gate practice sessions

Grass dual slalom (old school style – no spikes allowed)

4X racing

Jam sessions

Uplifts

For the 4X the categories will be as per the NPS (please bring number boards if you already have them), with an additional category for Dirt Jump and DH bikes (basically one brake singlespeeds, and anything over 130mm travel both ends). So this is an ideal opportunity to have a go at racing on any bike, for any level of rider.

The events will be run across the weekend, with an overall Redfest Champion being crowned on the Sunday afternoon, once all the results are in. Camping is available from the Friday onwards for those wanting some cheeky early practice. Oh, and everyone is required to bring an item for the prize fund. It could be a set of grips, a carton of yoghurt, a bag of zip ties, a can of Redbull, a set of seals for a pair of 2004 Marzocchi Z2 BAMs, whatever! It all goes into the prize pile, so everyone competing can take something home with them.

Profits from the weekend go towards a proper start for the 4X track. Costs are as follows:

Entry to all three races plus weekend riding = £30

Just 4X on Sunday = £20

Riding and camping (no race entries) = £15 (please sign in as usual)

Camping for spectators = £3 per person per night

All riders wishing to race will need to be on site and signed in by 1:00pm on Saturday
