Did any body stay up/get up early to watch the BMX qualifying? I missed it, but British Cycling has a good report.
In the womens qualies Shanaze Reade binned it on her first timed run and but came back to take second spot with a 36.882. Ex-mountain biker Anne-Caroline Chausson took the top spot with 36.660. Big Mikes favourite Jill Kintner came in 7th with a 37.913.
“It doesn’t do anything for your mental strength” she said, “but I just took it steady [in her second run]. That was just a lap to get back into it.” On the crash itself, she said “I washed out. It was just one of those things. You’ve got to battle on if you want to win the gold. I was hurt a bit and dented pride, but tomorrow everything is going to come out of the bag!” Shaneze Reade
In the men’s competition, the seeding runs went largely without incident with Mike Day of the USA, Maris Stromberg of Latvia and Damien Godet of France the three fastest qualifiers. Liam Phillips of GB qualified 28th of the 32 riders. Jared Graves won his qualifying heat after a big ol’ pile up and is in 11th.Prokop finished in 20th so I’m not sure if he has qualified.

I haven’t seen any of the action yet but apparently it’s pretty good. It must be if the BBC’s Clare Balding (you know the posh horsey lady who sometimes looks a bit like a bloke) described it as ‘well mental’.
