Victor’s Schladming 5-a-final-day

Did you know that an anagram of Schladming is “calm sh ding”? Well today was any thing but a calm sh ding. Here’s Vincent Van Flugalhorn’s 5-a-day from the uncalm Schladming.

The wet conditions probably suited Rachel Atherton, she
seems well able for tough technical courses. Another massive winning margin of 13 seconds gave her a clear win and the series.

Sam Blenkinsop made history today – the first Kiwi to win a
World Cup Men’s Downhill. Look out Schladming, there might be some partying tonight.

After qualifying in 6th place, all Greg Minnaar needed was
8th place or better to win the overall. Yeah sounds easy, and that sort of thing can mess with your head. But Greg kept it steady and finished 5th to take home the biggest glass trophy in town.

Sam Hill had some problems in his race run today, which gave
second place in the race and the overall. Even with a win, he couldn’t have got enough points to take the overall away from Greg.

The track was so wet this morning that Gee Atherton told his
mechanic Steve the bear Bell to ‘put on the mans tyres’ (that’s full spikes to you and me).
