To bits of new from New Zealand from Dirt columist Seb Kemp.
First up a short video from the Rockstar fizzy drink jam: Seb says:
“we went to film the Rockstar Energy Drink Frew Farm Jam but the weather shitted the whole cabodoodle out some we ended up with nothing. Tim Pierce the director/producer managed to stitch something utterly irrelevant and useless out of what filming we managed.”

This weekend sees the Nzone Brakeburner taking place in Queenstown at Coronet MTB Park. Its a 6hr super d race which utilises the chairlift. Its were the idea of that race up Fort William came from. It’s a big deal race as xc whippets go head to head with gravity addicts. Last year Mark Weir came all the way from the states to try his luck but got beaten by the mega tenacious former World Big Mountain Freeski champion Geoff Small.
This race kicks off the week of wonder here in Queenstown. Checkout the preview and tips for the top spots here.
Already there’s alot of riders in town for the events. Theres the whole Scottish contingent of Ben Cathro, Gary Forrest, Joe Barnes, Fergus Lamb, Lil Liam, Danny Harts sister(?), not so scottish Fabian Pedemaud, and supposedly Sabrina Jonnier as well as alot of the Kiwi favs and locals alike. As well as being here for the Brakeburner and the Week of Wonders they are here for Round 2 of the South Island NZ DH Cup which happens on the weekend of the 14/15th Feb to wrap up the festivities.
Things are getting exciting leading up to the Week of Wonder. so much so that I’ve decided that I’m gonna have to raise my game somewhat when it comes to organising the week of events. no more ghetto back garden renegade amateur events here. now we got real prizes ($10 toffee, girls size xl t-shirts, one month gym membership, bottle of champagne, slap up meals, free pizzas etc) and real trophies.
This thing is gonna be fun so if you happen to be anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere then make your way over to Queenstown, NZ.
