They may be less powerful and slower than what he’s used to but David Knight (the one with the MBE) seems pretty chuffed to be riding on an ebike.
Kinghter is a three time moto enduro World Champion and he recently dropped into the Haibike headquarters to give their Xduro Nduro Pro a go. These photos show him riding it on their test track but he’s now taken it back to the Isle of Man to have a proper play on it.
If anyone’s going to be able to push an ebike we reckon it’s David and his years of motorised experience will come into play as he chucks it around the island.
David said: “I’m using it most days and its so much fun. I’ve been on a downhill track and rode back to the top in no time. A few mates have had a quick spin at my workshop and been amazed to how good it is, one has already bought one. Even my missus wants one now.”
Great trail ride with @Knighter101 on his cheaty eBike. Some very suspect overtakes occurred 🙂 pic.twitter.com/KT5eFiuHbf

“It’s still hard going but now I can ride hills I had to push up before which in my opinion is better.
“On a conventional mtb I struggle to find motivation to go for a ride on my own so don’t clock up much riding, on the Haibike I look forward to it and have clocked up more miles in a month than I done all year on my mtb.”
If you’re not a moto fan but you recognise the name, it could be from this video of David racing Gee Atherton down Fort William in 2010. Back then he called downhill the “lazy man’s bicycle sport”, we wonder if he’ll regret that after a few runs on the Haibike! Maybe it’s time for a moto vs mtb vs ebike test in the near future…
