22-year-old Matt has been professional for four years and broke into the slopestyle scene after taking bronze at the Red Bull Phenom competition for the 2013 X-Games. He currently sits 12th in the FMB rankings after picking up six podiums and three wins this year.  If his recent Red Bull edit is anything to go by he’s set for even bigger things in future though.

It sounds like he’s looking to expand beyond slopestyle in 2017 though with more trail riding and a big Red Bull feature planned.

Matt said: “I’m stoked to be riding for Marin, as a brand that has been at the forefront of mountain biking since I first discovered the sport. I have long looked up to Marin and have enjoyed watching their renaissance over the past few years. The crew at Marin has some exciting things coming that I can’t wait to be a part of.”

Chris Holmes, brand director at Marin, said: “We’re incredibly fortunate to have signed a rider of Matt’s level. Not only is Matt a super-talented athlete with a lot of momentum, but he also fits in greatly with the Marin story. He is an all-around genuine guy and a great person to work with. We can’t wait to see what we are able to accomplish with him this year.”

There’s one obvious problem with the move – Marin doesn’t have a dirt jump frame. However, it sounds like Matt will be helping them develop an alloy one as part of the deal. We can’t wait to see what 2017 brings for Britain’s hottest young dirt jumper.
