Does GT have a new downhill bike in the pipeline?

Is that a new shock mount we see?

If you thought the off-season rumours had been put to bed, you clearly have another thing coming as Wyn Masters and Brook MacDonald have been posting spy shots of what could be a new GT Fury downhill bike on Instagram.

A current Fury for reference

The photos may not look like they give very much away but we’ve put our very best internet detectives on the case and if you really squint at Wyn’s picture (left) you may be able to see an interesting shock mount.

We reckon we can just about make out the orange spring of a Fox DHX2 peeking out from beneath the shading (you may have to put your nose up to the screen for this) that’s at a bit of a funny angle. The current Fury has a horizontal shock but this one seems to meet the downtube a bit closer to the bottom bracket – a bit like an old Specialized Big Hit.

Of course, we’re only speculating at this point and this could just be a very early prototype that will be shelved at a later date but it would be cool to see something new on the circuit when Lourdes swings around.

In the mean time, let Brook and Wyn amuse you with their guide to manualling.
