GEE ATHERTON WINS VIGO 4X

News just in, Gee Atherton has just won the 4X World Cup race out in Vigo in one of the most mental finals ever.

Final was Winchman, Lopes, Prokop and Gee. Winchman went flying off the track (literally) on the steep upper section and he and his bike almost took out prokop and Gee who were already on the straight below. Then Prokop was leading right through all the gnarly stuff and and the more BMX’y stuff until the last big jump (a step up on the second to last straight) when for some unknown reason he just lost it and shot off the side of the track, leaving Gee to take the win. Lopes came in second. Couldn’t quite believe that Prokop lost it there of all places, everyone thought that if he was going to struggle anywhere it would be at the top. Gee is understandably stoked.

Bit of a minor upset in the women’s, with Anneke Beerten taking the win from current champion Jill Kintner.
