Here’s what it looks like when Gee Atherton tries to chase 400 riders down an Irish hillside. In what must be one of the more unique race formats dreamed up after one too many, the Red Bull Foxhunt is now in its third year.
The idea is that Gee starts chasing down the 400 riders after a short head start for them after a huge mass start. The first stage is over open moorland which separates the riders before hitting the single track.
Gee and the other riders take some amazing lines to make up as much time as possible as can be seen from this POV video. Local rider, Colin Ross from Stoneyford, took the win this year with Dirt Norco’s Greg Callaghan second and Joe Barnes of the Dudes of Hazzard in 3rd.
