First ever mass start Canadian DH Race

Mass start downhill events are ace, just think Megavalanche, Mountain of Hell, Gloucestershire cheese rolling etc.
Canada is getting in on the act with a mass start downhill race in Whistler on 4th, 5th of September.
It’s called the RedBull Exodus. The legendary Bob Marley once sang “movement of jah people! oh-oh-oh, yea-eah!” on his song Exodus

There certainly will be movement of jah people for this race, 200 jah people racing from the peak of Whistler Mountain in British Columbia to the finish in Whistler village, with an expected race time of 35-45minutes. Sounds good to me.

Check out the full press release below the video of Bob.

Bob Marley-Exodus.

On September 4th and 5th, 200 mountain bikers will gather at the peak of Whistler Mountain in British Columbia and will descend more than 2,182m and a vertical of 1,530m in order to cross the finish line in the Whistler Village. All riders will need constant physical and mental effort to maintain control during the entire descent, which will take approximately 35-45 minutes for the fastest participants.

Red Bull Exodus is a mass start downhill race that will see 200 men and women starting at once from the snow-capped peak, and flying down the mountain by passing the Roundhouse Lodge and entering the world-famous Whistler Mountain Bike Park at Garbanzo, before riding the giant slalom course and then finally crossing the finish line in the Whistler Village. Over the course of two days, participants will be challenged by NASCAR-style racing, other competitors navigating the same trails, fatigue and challenging dirt trails including jumps, stunts, drops and root-strewn terrain.

The event will draw some of the greatest Canadian and European riders to Whistler Blackcomb, offering a mass start downhill mountain bike race never before seen in Canada. Among the riders will be a combination of the sport’s emerging and established superstars, including Red Bull Rampage 2009 winner Brandon Semenuk, Robbie Bourdon, Darren Berrecloth, Alex Pro, Shaums March, Red Bull Rampage 2001 Utah winner Wade Simmons, Tyler Morland, Thomas Vanderham, and Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park Pro Team rider Dave Watson.
