The inaugral Enduro World Series kicks off it’s first of seven rounds in Punta Ala, Italy on May 18/19th. It’s going to be a super exciting year for sure!
EWS head honcho Chris Ball has just released the official Enduro Mountain Bike Association rulebook which you can read below.
I’ve got to dash out now and see a man about a 650b set up, but we’ll bring you more EWS news, or “NEWS of the EWS” soon!
“This is the start,” says EWS Managing Director, Chris Ball. “Every effort has been made to incorporate industry and rider feedback, through our EMBA Advisory Board, into the development of the rule book. But we’re also in the fortunate position of being a young enough and dynamic enough organisation, that we can adapt and evolve over our first year, to respond to the community.”
The EMBA Advisory Board was announced February 13 and is made up of Rob Roskopp, Tracy Moseley, Jerome Clementz, Jeremiah Boobar, Curtis Keene and Mark Fitzsimmons.
Each event in the calendar will operate a reserved rider list, with places guaranteed for a limited number of pre-selected Official Enduro World Series teams and riders. The individual rider names are now published on the Enduro World Series (EWS) website and all individual riders featured on the list must contact Chris Ball ([email protected]) by 8th April to confirm their entry. Although these riders are guaranteed a place, registration fees still apply at each event.
There will also be a very small number of wild card entries available for teams and individuals. This is to allow lesser-known and emerging talent from around the world the chance to secure a spot on the international enduro stage.
The five selected wild card teams will be able to compete for the team overall award. Both teams and individual riders are invited to apply for these places by emailing the EWS a short note by the 29th March, outlining why they are world-class competitors. Registration fees will still apply to all selected wild card teams and individual riders.
Only riders that have purchased EMBA membership will be eligible for series points. This is to ensure that the administration costs of the EWS are met, allowing the series to flourish in years to come. It also helps establish an enduro community that can work to progress the discipline together.
Although we would like every rider to support us through EMBA membership it is not a requirement for event entry. For those wishing to join us, EMBA membership is available at www.enduroworldseries.com as of Monday, 25th February, 2013.
