Enduro World Series Is On!!!

After the UCI decided to ditch an Enduro World Cup series at the last minute, and for no apparent reason, the big time future of the format looked a little uncertain. That now has all changed, and if anything it now looks like the sport will be in a far better position than it ever would have been under the UCI umbrella. Hopefully this series might even help prove that we’d be better off going it alone with other disciplins.

The main man responsible for making this happen is Chris Ball who up until recently was working for the UCI. He had put in a huge amount of work to put an enduro World Cup together for the UCI, and then when they pulled the plug on it he made the wise decision of getting the hell out of there. To be honest it seems like the UCI have handed this opportunity to Chris on a plate as they must have paid him to do a considerable amount of the work required to put together a series like this.

It’s not just Chris who is behind this though, he is also joined by Enrico Guala from SuperEnduro (Italy), Fred Glo from Enduro Series (Coupe de France), and Darren Kinnaird from Crankworx Events Inc. The four of them have created the ‘Enduro Mountain Bike Association’, of which the Enduro World Series will be the official global race series. There will be seven rounds in total for 2013, and this will include the Enduro des Nations. The collaborative skills and experience of these four guys should mean that the series is nothing short of excellent, just what the sport needs. All of us at Dirt really hope that they pull this off in the style that we reckon they’re capable of, and if they do then maybe this is just the start of things to come…

The exact dates and venues are due to be released on the 4th of December and an official website should be up and running soon. In the meantime you can check out their facebook page here.
