One-of-a-kind retro mtb goes on sale for more than 10 grand

A thing of beauty

Ten grand could get you a World Championship winning downhill bike, a trail bike with full Di2 or, for this month only, a 30 year old fully rigid.

This Mountain Goat Deluxe MTB has just hit eBay and the owner is asking for $12,500 (£10,159.30). Sure, it’s expensive enough to make a credit card melt but you have to admit, it looks pretty special.

The frame was hand built by Mountain Bike Hall of Famer Jeff Lindsay and the ‘live sushi’ paint was done by Russ Pickett of Air Art.

Also in the auction is a prototype Campagnolo groupset that was only ever displayed at Interbike in 1990. Basically, there’s a lot of rare and desirable stuff here.

There are over 120 photos on the listing so if this is your kind of thing it’s a mini treasure trove, it’s all in showroom condition too. Check it out here.

There’s only one question, when it looks that good and it costs so much… would you ever dare to build it up and ride it?
