Track builder extraordinaire, Champery resident, bike rider and all round nice guy Ben Walker will be beaming us updates and generally keeping us informed of the preparations for this years World Championships in Champery, Switzerland.
Looks like there’s still a lot of snow down Champery way at the moment!
Here’s what Ben told us:
We just had one of the last major meetings to get everything organized and ordered. Chris Ball, from the UCI, came out and had a look at the finish line setup. He and the organizer had a look but there aren’t 1000 solutions due to the narrow valley back behind Champery.
The DH and 4X tracks will finish down by the XC track and should leave us some room for a couple nice senders before the finish line.
I am being held up a little by the environmentalists to start the work on the 4X track. I should start digging soon, there is little to no snow where I am going to build the track so it should be perfect when they give me the go ahead.
I am going to do some sections with lots of roots to get things a bit more MTB but keep the big jumps for some BMX influence.
Should be sick if they let me build it where I think it should go.
Anyways, here are a couple pics from the other day. Sorry it is not bike related but none the less, still a Champery update!
