The Edge – Trailer with Bex Reilly

Scottish downhiller Bex Reilly sent over a short video teaser of her and xc rider Katy Winton for an upcoming film The Edge.

We thought it’d be a good opportunity to ask Bex a few questions.

The Edge.

The film gives a short insight to two Scottish female racers, downhiller Bex Reilly and XC rider Katy Winton, documenting their success in 2010 and their plans for 2011.

Bex Reilly races downhill and is supported by Scottish Cycling through the Scottish Institute of Sport. Supported by Uplift Scotland, 2010 saw her defend the Scottish Series title, win her National Championship Category and gain Elite status for 2011.

Katy Winton races cross-country and is part of British Cycling’s Olympic Development Program. Supported by the Glentress Hub in the Forest, Katy made her World Cup Debut in 2010 and won the Junior National Championship title for the second year in a row.

Study in Glasgow and spend summer and Christmas in Galloway S.W Scotland

Down every hill in Britain

What do you do when you are not riding?

Uni work.

Your riding achievements?
Being part of Scottish Cycling’s Youth Development program for two years, competing at Fort William and Maribor world cup as a junior, 2x SDA champion.

Winning category at National Champs, winning the SDA series after two big knee injuries mid-season.

Interesting Facts about you?
Has a car called Mavis, finest bike ever ridden was “The Barbie Bike” when I was 6 years old, eldest of 5 kids.

Hopes for 2011?
World cups and a consistent performance in every race.

Who do you look up to?
Track sprinter Victoria Pendleton and Skeleton athlete Amy Williams – both manage to be feminine athletes while competing at the top of two brutal sports.

How long you have been riding for?
FOREVER! Started racing in 2008

Favorite place to ride?
Innerleithen

Memorable experiences from 2010?
National Championships at Ae Forest, I was laughing so much on the final uplift I felt sick, got me nice and relaxed for my race run!

Where do you want to go that you haven’t been before?

The World Cup Podium or Disney Land, Florida.

Why do you race bikes?
Gives me the freedom to do so much! A massive part in the sport depends on your own motivation and effort; it’s down to you to do the work. I like that challenge.
