Beerten and Rinderknecht win Val di Sole 4x

Under the flood lights at Val di Sole fastest qualifiers Roger Rinderknecht and Anneke Beerten came through to take the win in Italy.

There was a fair old crowd and good atmosphere on the hill for the 4x finals tonight and for the first round at least the sunlight was amazing, illuminating the track, riders and dust beautifully. That didn’t last long and as the sun dipped behind the opposite hill leaving the track dark and chilly.

Jared Graves got the snap in the mens final as he had done all night and was looking strong. However going wide in to turn two he left a slight gap, Rinderknecht went for the inside and collided with Graves on the exit. Rinderknecht kept his momentum and powered on to the line followed by Slavik and Prokop, leaving Graves dead last.

But by my maths Jared Graves has won the series with 535 points to Tomas Slaviks 400 and only 125 points available from the final round.

Where are all the womens 4x riders? Only 11 entered and 8 went through to the finals. Beerten was always going to win this one, but ride of the night for me was Katy Curd who opted out of DH this weekend to focus on 4x where she has fun. A stall in the first round had her down in 3rd, her only chance of a move was taking the big pro jump line which she did with ease (only her and Beerten cleared them) putting her through to the final.
Anneke Beerten still leads the series with 330 points, 45 in front of second place Anita Molcik.
