Watch out for McKenna, at the rate she’s going we could be looking at a future World Champion here!
Here’s what she has to say:
My name is McKenna Dean Merten and I am nine years old. I’ve been racing BMX since I was six years old. I finished 2011 ranked 16th nationally, 3rd in the Redline Cup, and 2nd in my district. It is the second year in a row I am 2nd in my district. I started mountain biking when I was seven, and my first ride was the kamikazi in Mammoth.
My first mountain bike at seven.
At the top of Mammoth Mountain.
Riding down the Kamikaze at seven.
Two summers ago I went to Utah for a BMX National, but the day before that, I went downhilling with my Daddy’s friend Steve Peat. He is one of my favorite racers.
Me and World Champion Steve Peat.
At the end of last summer my Daddy built me a downhill bike and I started racing downhill. I am going to Sea Otter to race the downhill and dual slalom.
Me racing at Fontana.
My Daddy can tell you all about the parts and how he built it for me. It works great for me, because I am so small and light.
You can see all my race reports on my blog site that my Mommy’s friend does for me. mckennathechamp.blogspot.com/
Thank you very much.
