Pietro Palladino - Marzocchi
Pietro Palladino, or Pedro as he is better known, is somewhat of a legend on the World Cup circuit. He takes care of the Marzocchi service truck and is easily the hardest working mechanic on the circuit thanks to the fact that he also spanners at the likes of Moto GP races too. This year he only has one week off, and that’s Christmas, every other week he will be at a race of one sort or another. I’m a big fan of his tool of choice, the classic Park 3-way allen key. It’s incredibly ergonomic and the fact that you’ve got three tools in your hand in one go means far less time picking up and putting down tools. What does Pedro do with that time saved? Drink a can of Red Bull. Somewhat unbelievably I discovered that for the past eight years Pedro has drunk on average 14-17 cans of the stuff per day! On one mammoth road trip he even managed 32 cans in one day!!! I really can’t understand how the guy is still alive. His truck has a massive compartment that is just rammed full of Red Bull and the photo below shows his stash for the day sitting next to his workbench.
