Not long to go now, so get your entry in quick. Enter HERE. We are so stoked (can we say that?) here at Dirt that the Dirt and TREK Downhill Fantasy League is back for the 2016 season. It’s time for you to put your money where your mouth is. You’re the boss, you make the calls.
It’s never an easy job for us selecting rider prices, but we used the same pricing scale as our successful 2014 version of the game… that seemed to work well for everyone. Of course people like Sam Hill (out with injury in 2015) is an absolute steal at £150k, where do you place the likes of Steve Peat (again missed 2015 with injury), Laurie Greenland too – what will he do as a first year senior? This is a tactical game, one where you have to take into account form, injury, location (you can bet that a good proportion of the lower ranked Euro based riders won’t be going out to Australia for round 2 in Cairns or Canada and round 6), whether a rider’s style is suited to a certain type of track, etc. It is interesting to see that so far 37% of teams have gone for Rachel Atherton and 36% for Sam Hill, but it is early days yet.
Just in case you don’t know what the Fantasy League is the idea is simple, you have £1,000,000 to spend on 4 male riders and 1 female rider for this year’s 2016 Downhill World Cup race season. You score points for each of the seven rounds (qualifying and finals) and the person with the most points on September 4th (the final round in Vallnord) is the winner. Easy. But that is not all, between each round you are allowed to transfer up to two riders. You can use strategy to swap riders in and out of your team. And the best thing? It is FREE to play.
We’ll be offering some spot prizes throughout the season and the overall winner at the end of the series will win a (not even launched yet) Trek bike. And we must say a huge thanks to sponsors Trek for making the 2016 Fantasy League happen. We couldn’t have done it without them.
