Been racing, round 1 of the UK Bike Park summer series, and what a day, as far as i know there was 1 airborne cas-evac and 1 broken arm, i squashed me scrotum and Andy Payne (hardtail) tried to hang himself while racing. All in a mad weekend in dorset. 9 go mad in Dorset, not quite a book by Enid Blighton but we had cake, monster drink and lashings of proper beer, ginger beer goes in whiskey and should not be drunk on its own, and of course monster millitary truck uplift.
Now as this is a blog and not a proper race report (unless billy moves it) i can bang on about hardtails, ok there where over 100 gaybikes there, sorry sorry sussers there, who where faster but had whey less fun than us lot, have a few photos of sussers on the top section ( dual track ).
Cracking venue the Bike park, the ground make up is chalky clay soil, laced with flint, super fast when dry, super scary when wet, we had it dusty this time which made the start on the dual track super quick, too quick for me as i tried to highside myself on run 1, being a bloke i have kit to deal with this when it happens, you just slam your scrote down on the toptube to force the back wheel down, try and get your foot back on the pedal and hang on. I rode it out this time, binned it further down instead, had a go at displacing a kneecap too, that hurt !
See that white hardtail, thats a prototype curtis being gently tested, the test pilot is Andy who tried to hang him self, freak accident really, he did the small stepdown into breaking bumps went off track a bit through a bush and caught his head in a noose like hanging vine, very nasty should have taken a photo of his neck wound, still he won the HT to make up for it.
Have some results first off the ladys, why arent there more racing ? on the left is1st Haby-blu Cann 1.56 and on the right is 2nd Rose Hindley 2.03, next up we have the fast blokes and the 3 fastest times of the day as well. On the left in 2nd Ben Deakin 1.37.37 in the middle 1st Ashley Mullane 1.37.20 and on the right in 3rd Will Soffe 1.37.96 yeah tight times, Ashley also picked up the £100 overall fastest time prize as well so a good weekend out for him.
And of course the Hardtails, who where in a rush to get down the pub and spend Andys prize cash, on the left in 2nd is James Horton 1.51.80 in the middle 1st Andy Payne 1.48.59 and on the right in 3rd Ash Brown 1.59.50. For info on there round 2 race (2 weeks time) check www.ukbikepark.com for hardtail stuff wander over to www.hardtailnation.co.uk and check us out
