There’s something timeless about a clicked whip. It may not be as impressive as a flip or as fast as a scrub but it’s probably the coolest thing you can do on a mountain bike – and always will be.
The introduction of the Whip Off World Championships at Crankworx, Whistler has pushed riders to go more sideways than ever creating a Golden Age of the Whip. Here are ten of the best whippers around:
Danny Hart
The most iconic whip in mountain bike history? Probably. Not many people can win a World Championship by more than ten seconds and none of them have done it with as much style as this. While the rest of the field were spat out of the Champery woods like flavourless gum, Hart was composed, graceful and able to stamp his authority on one of the hardest tracks in the world.
