The Enduro 1 series, sponsored by X Fusion, is made up four races at locations across the south of England, and was formed to allow general trail/all-mountain riders to enter a fun and friendly competition that is relevant to their type of riding. There are five age categories (Junior, Senior, Master, Veteran and Grand Veteran) and two race classes (Sport and Competitive).
The inaugural series was held in 2012 when three races were staged. The action kicked off in the Forest of Dean in April with Charlie Williams of the Fetish Bike Company winning the competitive class. The second race was held on Salisbury Plain in June, and the series finished in Swinley Forest in October. Top female rider overall was Anna Buckingham and top male was Ryan Bevis.
The second edition of Enduro 1 in 2013 was bigger than before, with an extra race added to the calendar. Beginning in Great Wood in the Quantocks, the series then moved on to the Forest of Dean and the series’ first-ever competitive-only sprint enduro at Aston Hill, before finishing at the UK Bike Park in Blandford Forest. Overall men’s series winner was Chris Keeble-Smith of Nukeproof/ Nema, while the women’s winner was Sally Evemy.
The 2014 series will again be made up of four races, The action began in the Forest of Dean in March, with individual victories going to Paul Pickup and Rachael Gurney. Next on the schedule is Haldon Forest, near Exeter, followed by Great Grogly Downs, Bodmin, before finishing at Great Wood.
