Supspension: ROCKSOX ’09 BOXXER TEAM

The 2008 BoXXer Team’s were our favourite downhill fork, but now they’ve been knocked off the top spot by the completely redesigned 2009 BoXXer Teams. The most visible change is the move to larger 35mm upper legs which has resulted in a stiffer and lighter fork, and room for completely new internals. The new Mission Control DH damper provides external low and high speed compression adjusters, and beginning and end of stroke rebound ones. On both the Team and World Cup versions you also get the chance to externally alter the progression of the fork to resist bottoming out. These extra adjustments allow you to get the fork absolutely dialled to your personal taste, and the forks are smoother than ever. It’s also good to see the addition of some bulges on the fork lowers where the bushings sit, this was the one weak point of the previous BoXXers. The reason we’ve picked the coil sprung Team over the air sprung World Cup is firstly because it’s going to be a fair bit cheaper despite the spring being the only difference, and secondly because it shouldn’t require as much maintenance.
