If you ride clipped–in then it’s highly likely that you’re either a Shimano or a crankbrothers fan. Which of those two you prefer seems to come down to personal taste, and we normally sit on the Shimano side of the fence, but when it comes to downhill duties it’s tough to beat these Mallet DH’s. Yes reliability might not be all that we desire, and the engagement might not be as crisp, but these more than make up for all that with the platform that they offer. These are the only clipless pedals where you don’t feel sketchy when you haven’t quite managed to clip back in. That quality is worth its weight in gold if you’re riding DH clipped–in, and so for that reason alone they definitely warrant a spot in the 100.
