The Big Earl is a deceptive tyre, it looks like a big bloater that would leave you dragging extra weight around the trail and slowly drain your legs, but this is not the case. The tyre is surprisingly light for its size and the compound and tread pattern of the rubber make for a fast rolling tyre. In fact it positively zips along the trail for a tyre of this size, and all the time allowing the reassurance that a bit of extra width and air volume gives you. Despite the labels it is definitely more at home on hardpack ground than gloopy mud, so the Big Earls are best suited as a good trail centre or all–mountain summertime tyre.
