STANTON SLACKLINE TI
We featured the Slackline in last year’s Dirt 100 and have also shouted a fair bit about its quality and great ride character over the past year, and not without reason!
As those with a penchant for hardtails will already know, there’s more to a stiff rear end than throwing some tubes into a bike shape; geometry in fact is absolute paramount and with the Slackline Stanton really have nailed it. It’s not just the geometry of this frame that has won us over though, it’s also the overall ride quality. There’s just the right amount of flex where you want it, and the same goes for stiffness. Those qualities are possibly even harder to get right than geometry, but once again Stanton have done it.
This new titanium version (production versions will have a replaceable mech hanger) is stronger, lighter and better looking than ever, and whilst the differences when riding might be subtle when compared to the Reynolds 853 steel version, if you want what we reckon is the best ‘do it all’ hardtail then this is it. You really can do everything on it, from dirt jumps to downhill runs, and you can pedal to the pub in style afterwards.
If ever proof was needed that the trustworthy hardtail will never die, then this is it.
